We have a
large selection of miniature roses, selected over time for the hardiest and most
disease-resistant cultivars. They bloom all summer and have a variety of uses
from the perennial border to container gardening.
Rosa
'Adelaide Hoodless' ROSE, ADELAIDE HOODLESS
(Marshall,
Morden, 1973) One of the Parkland Series and very hardy. Semi-double red blooms.
Repeat flowering. Light fragrance. Resistent to powdery mildew. 3' tall. Zone 2.
Rosa alba
'Maxima' ROSE, MAXIMA
Although this
double, white-flowered, antique rose only blooms once each season, it blooms for
a very long time, often 6 full weeks starting in June. Also known as the
'Jacobite Rose', or the 'White Rose of York'. Fragrant. Beautiful red hips in
fall. 6' tall. Full sun to part shade. Part SHADE, not many roses do well in
part shade. Zone 4.

'Apothecary' ROSE, APOTHECARY
The oldest
form of Rosa gallica in cultivation, also known as 'The Red Rose of Lancaster'
is the best rose for medicinal use and herbal concoctions. It's also a very good
garden rose, almost thornless, growing 4' x 4' tall with many double to
semi-double carmine-colored flowers in spring. The flowers become intensely
fragrant when dried. Zone 4.

'Applejack' ROSE, APPLEJACK
(Griffith
Buck, 1973) Crimson buds open to large, semi-double bright rose-pink blooms
stippled along the midrib of the petals with crimson. Flowers have a clove
fragrance. Foliage is apple-scented. 6' tall, can be trained as a climber. Zone
4.

'Carefree Beauty' ROSE, CAREFREE BEAUTY
This is
another great Griffith Buck rose. Large, fragrant, pink, semi-double blooms on
arching canes. Orange hips in fall. Very disease resistant. 4' tall. Zone 4.
Rosa 'Earth
Song' ROSE, EARTH SONG
(Buck, 1975)
This Buck rose is fragrant and a good repeater. The buds start out as rosy red
and open to a deep pink. It's hardy to Zone 4 (although it dies back to within a
foot of the ground in winter, so not as hardy as the Canadian shrubs) and is
very disease resistant.

You'll love
the apple-scented foliage of this rose. Also known as Sweet Briar Rose and
Shakespeare's Rose. It is covered in June with single pink blooms. 6' x 6'. Zone
4.

ROSE, ERFURT
A hybrid musk
with light pink, fragrant flowers. All of the hybrid musks are somewhat more
tolerant of shade than most roses. 3' tall. Repeat blooming. Zone 5.
Rosa foetida
'Austrian Copper' ROSE, AUSTRIAN COPPER
Antique rose,
known since the 12th century and probably originated in Turkey or Central Asia.
Drought tolerant. Bright reddish orange flowers with a yellow reverse. This rose
loves the heat and is one of the showiest of the antique roses. Great for Pueblo
and Pueblo West. Zone 3.

versicolor ROSA MUNDI
This sport of
Rosa gallica officinalis is the original striped rose, with carmine and pink
striped blooms in June-July. Fragrant. 4' tall. Zone 4.

darkest red climber we offer. Canadian introduction. Zone 3.

for Humanity' ROSE, HOPE FOR HUMANITY ROSE
(Canadian
Parkland series, 1996) Named in honor of the Canadian Red Cross, this rose is
covered with larges clusters of deep wine red buds with high centers that
resemble small hybrid tea blooms. Blooms from June until frost. 5' tall. Zone 3.

(collected in
West China in 1899) Small yellow, cup-shaped blooms, early bloomer. Graceful
shrub, sort green ferny foliage turns reddish in the fall. 5' tall. Xeric. Zone
5.
Rosa 'J.P.
Connell' ROSE, J.P. CONNELL
(Svedja,
1987) Light yellow in bud fading to cream when fully opened. Lovely shaped
flowers, almost like a hybrid tea, but this rose is a tough Canadian. Fragrant.
Very few thorns, another plus. 4' tall. Zone 4.

1842) This antique Portland rose is a fragrant, medium pink double that repeat
well into the fall, often into October. Tolerates some shade and is a good cut
flower. 4' tall. Zone 5.

This climber is best used as a pillar rose. Medium pink flowers are very double.
Repeats throughout the summer. 6'-8' tall. Zone 3.

double blooms. 2' tall. Zone 3.
Rosa 'Louis

(Canadian
Explorer, 1990) A great rose with attractive medium pink flowers produced in
clusters of 3-10 all season long. Flowers have a pleasing spicy fragrance.
Glossy, deep green foliage is disease resistant. 2' tall. Zone 4.

Odier' ROSE, LOUISE ODIER
This antique
rose is very fragrant. The double, cabbage shaped roses are a warm pink color,
flushed with lilac. Last year we sold out of this one quickly, it's a very
appealing rose.5' tall. Zone 5.

Centennial' ROSE, MORDEN CENTENNIAL
(Canadian
Parkland, 1980) Medium pink double blooms in clusters repeating through the
summer. Very hardy, the bush reaches 2 to 4 feet tall and wide in zone 3, but is
a vigorous climbing shrub in zone 5, reaching 6 to 10 feet. Zone 3.

Sunrise' ROSE, MORDEN SUNRISE
A
yellow-apricot colored Canadian rose with fragrance! Canadian roses are hardy
and vigorous shrubs, but they haven't been available in a very wide color range,
and not many of them have much fragrance. Finally, one that isn't pink and that
smells like a rose! Zone 4.

This cute
shrub is almost a non-stop bloomer. The single pink flowers look like a wild
rose only larger, and unlike a wild rose, they repeat all summer long. 3' x 3'.

Dawn' ROSE, NEW DAWN

USA,1930) A light pink climber that repeats throughout the summer. This rose
blooms on both old and new wood so even if a severe winter causes some dieback
it will still bloom. Very good fragrance. Recommended by the Pikes Peak Rose
Society. Very dependable. 10' long canes. Zone 5.

Dr. Newton
Gunter, Pueblo dentist and rose hybridizer, developed this rose in the 1940s.
Deep pink, almost red, flowers in June and July, sometimes reblooming in
September. A cross between a native rose from San Isabel National Forest and a
hybrid tea. Zone 4.

(Manitoba,
1990) 'Prairie Joy' is the first hedge rose to be introduced by the Agriculture
Canada Research Centre, Morden, Manitoba. The flowers are double, medium pink,
2" in diameter, in clusters of 1 to 6, mainly in June and sparsely thereafter.
Resistance to powdery mildew and blackspot is excellent. It is useful as a
flowering screen or hedge, and could be used as a security barrier. 3'-4' tall.

Double
apricot blend fading to pink at the tips. Blooms from June until frost. Good
disease resistance. 3' tall. Zone 4.

(Canadian
Explorer, 1994) The very double (65 petals!) deep red blossoms are set off by
burgundy tinted new foliage. Shorter inward petals make this Canadian rose look
like an old rose from the 16th century Dutch paintings. 6' tall climber. Disease
resistant. Zone 3.

This is a
rose from Iran, introduced to the world in the late 1940s. It is thought to be
an antique rose that was lost to cultivation until found again by Nancy Lindsay,
the British writer. Good repeat bloomer. Fragrant. Zone 4.

Pink single
bloom in June; really grown for the beautiful purple-red stems and gray-green
foliage. Good red hips in the fall. 5' x 5'. Zone 3.

1983) An apricot-colored rose with sweet fragrance. Disease resistant. Repeat

1999) This yellow rose, deeper yellow in the center, with 50+ petals held in a
cupped shaped bloom, is as gorgeous as it is fragrant. 4' x 4'. Zone 5.

1932) This attractive little rose starts blooming the end of June and then never
stops until hard frost in fall. The foliage is glossy green and very tidy. It's
free from disease problems. Clusters of small pink flowers are pretty in the
garden and in bouquets. 3'x 3'. Zone 4.

that repeat well throughout the summer. This is our best-selling climbing rose.

(Canadian
Parkland Series, 1990) This hardy rose produces cherry-pink semi-double blooms
all summer long. The foliage is an attractive bronzy red throughout the summer,
and then turns to shades of orange in the fall. The orange-red hips provide
another season of interest in late fall and winter. 3' tall and 4' wide. Very
disease free. Zone 3.

harisonii 'Harison's Yellow' ROSE, HARISON'S YELLOW
(Harison,
USA, 1830) Known as the '49ers' Rose' and 'The Yellow Rose of Texas', this hardy
rose blooms in May and June in Colorado, and is often found growing wild all
through our region. Semi-double yellow blooms cover the dainty foliage and very
thorny stems. 4'x 5' or wider. Zone 3.

Green, ferny
foliage is one of the most attractive features of this rose. Medium-yellow,
semi-double flowers, fragrant, blooms in May. A large bush, with arching canes
and dark red hips in fall. Zone 4.
